How to take your manifesting to the next (science-backed) level

Published over 2 years ago • 1 min read

Hello There!

Manifesting, the act of “focusing on what you desire, and attracting it through what you think, say, and do” (Psychology Today) is all the rage. Less interested in if it works, manifesting is more about how it makes you feel. If feeling your way to becoming a millionaire isn’t the thing for you - there’s a very cool, very easy and more effective approach. And it still feels a bit like daydreaming

💡 Biggest whoa moment: That this actually works. Gabriele Oettingen, a psychology professor at NYU developed a sleek tool based on twenty years of research in the science of motivation. Now you can enjoy all of that research!

🌱 Put it into practice now: WOOP is made up of four seemingly simple steps that should be followed in their exact order: Wish, Outcome, Obstacle, Plan. First, you think deeply about your desire. Next, the outcome as it would be when the desire came true. Then, you consider all the obstacles that could keep you from the desire. Lastly, you put together the plan on how to battle those obstacles. They even walk you through it on their website!

And that’s it. It’s as simple as five to ten minutes of sitting still, thinking, dreaming and planning.

Helloooo! I was on a coaching call the other day and my client was reminiscing about a direct report shifting into their first time leading a program. They had asked them, “what’s the most important thing to first establish yourself as a leader?” Their report shared all kinds of thoughts: clear communication, executive presence, a shared vision, delivering feedback consistently, creating a space of psychological safety…” Great answers, right? Big red buzzer sound. The first thing? Handle your...

Hello Friends!January is coming in hot, and already my social media feeds are filled with Team Look at Me Doing my Resolutions versus Team Resolutions are Bad and Evil. And a fun third category of folks who have suddenly gone silent about their hefty list of resolutions. It happens y'all.Personally, I don't do resolutions, I focus on the habits I want to build that support my desires. And, I don't wait until January to do some goal-setting. I wouldn't get a lot done in October. But something...
